    Default Tatting from Burda

    Hello to tatters.
I want to make a table topper from the book, "Tatting from Burda" page 41 for the large doily which is 38" (97 cm) round, number #10 crochet cotton. I have ordered 5 balls of thread Lizbeth brand. Two Round Doileys with Butterflies It doesn't say how many balls. I'm hoping 5 will be enough? I have no idea. Thank you for your time. Ellen

Wow! That's a big undertaking! I have no idea if that will be enough thread or not, but it will be interesting to see how it all works out. I hope you'll post pictures of your progress. : )

Sorry, I can not help you.

    That's a book I'd love to have.
It's German, but it's not available in Germany any more.

This baby receiving blanket measures 36 square inches. I used 7 balls of Lizbeth No. 10 and it was an edging only. I'm pretty sure you'll need more thread!!! The doily you're aiming for is pretty large!!

The pattern doesn't give you any other clue?

Hi Diane. I may have taken on something really difficult. I keep reading the directions and found that on page 34 it's the same pattern with slightly different directions...I'm going to try a test piece first. I will post pictures. Thanks for your reply!

Hi Karen. Thank you for your information. If I do this one (gulp) I've ordered 5 and if I need more I'll probably get two dye lots, but that's okay.

Hello Anke, my version is done in English and I purchased it from Lacis. It was translated by Etha Schuette.

Thank you all for your responses. I think I may put the instructions into a spreadsheet as I go along. I may have selected a pattern that's not suitable for a beginner LOL, but I'll give it a go.
